Seminarian Formation Committee 

Mandate:

  • Review pastoral formation programs at SJS and SIC and propose the new program for 2012-2013 year
  • Assess student evaluation methods
  • Establish horarium for fall 2012
  • Review policies and resources in the area of psychological counseling
  • Working Group 1 for Pastoral Formation, Working Group 2 for Human Formation/Community Life, Working Group 3 for Spiritual FormationDevelop new student handbook based on study of SJS and SIC texts
  • Establish spiritual direction program based on assessment of existing ones
  • Review seminarian retreats and days of  recollection at SIC and SJS
  • Assess SIC/SJS course offerings in priestly spirituality, particularly with a view to formation in celibacy
  • Assess liturgical formation components in the SJS and SIC programs
  • Review admissions policies and work toward inter-diocesan norms for both SJS and CRIC
  • Other seminary formation concerns

Governance Committee 

Mandate:

  • Assess facilities at respective institutions: CRIC, SJS and SIC
  • Oversee finances with regard to capital improvements, tuition fees and faculty salaries (part-time/full-time at CRIC, SIC, SJS, SHI)
  • Assess room and board fees for residential students at SJS and make recommendations
  • Review or draft legal documents pertaining to all institutions
  • Follow up with recommendations from accrediting agencies re. governance
  • Monitor all developments with partnership in view of civil law implications and obligations
  • Any other governance concerns

Library Services & Information Technology Committee 

Mandate:

  • Assess library resources (electronic and paper) at SJS and SIC
  • Develop web-based information services for SIC, SJS, CRIC and SHI
  • Develop distance learning delivery systems for all SIC course-offering sites and for SHI programs
  • Any other library and information technology concerns

Seminary-Immaculate Conception/ Sacred Heart Institute

Mandate:

  • Develop SHI’s mission statement, bylaws, and organizational structure
  • Develop a three year strategic plan for SHI
  • Design programs for international priests
  • Assess SIC facilities; assist w/ improvements
  • Propose strategies to enhance SIC as a retreat and conference center for outside groups
  • Create plan for the Verbum Domini Preaching Program for priests and permanent deacons
  • Work with diocesan directors for the ongoing formation of clergy to set up retreats and workshops (e.g. new pastors) for 2012-2013
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for senior and other positions at SIC (in tandem w/Committee#1)
  • Other concerns re. ongoing clergy formation
